Why are Siberians called "Hypoallergenic"?

Siberian cats have been found to carry a very low level of Feline d1 protein (Fel-d1). This is a protein that has been identified to be specific to cats and it is suggested that those people who are allergic only to cats are likely sensitive to this protein.
Not all Siberians have the same low level of Fel-d1 and therefore people may react to some Siberian cats and not others. Valeria has tested very low at 1.68 mcg.  Levels of 16 mcg are commonly seen in most breeds.  Please visit kittentesting.com to learn more about fel d1 levels.  People with cat allergies have comfortably visited with Valeria.
